Storytelling: Poetry, Stage, and Song

New York, New York

Teachers & Writers Collaborative (T&W) seeks to educate the imagination by offering innovative creative writing programs, and by providing a variety of publications and resources to support learning through the literary arts. T&W’s partnership with VISIONS offers a unique opportunity to an underserved New York City population—the 200,000 city residents who are 65 or older and who are blind or have visual impairments. VISIONS is the only senior center in the city that offers all of its programs in formats adapted to enable participation by people who are blind.

Teachers & Writers Collaborative will expand its collaboration with VISIONS to offer three workshop series for older adults who have visual impairments. Each workshop series will involve creative writing, but with a different focus: first poetry, then playwriting and finally songwriting.
